Ed - This appears to be from a KATV news story found here.

The following is an excerpt from an email I received and thought everyone should know about:

Banana Joes and its companion restaurant Margarita Mama's opened for business in the Rivermarket on March 20th. It took a lot of hard work from a lot of local contractors to make that opening date a reality. Many of those contractors say they have had to work just as hard since then to collect their money. Electrician Ron Bank is one of them. "The place is packed with people every night and they can't pay their bills to people who put them in business. My name is Bank but Im not a financial institution. My intention when I started this job was not to finance these guys and that's what they're using us for and that's wrong."

I'm looking for an easy and automatable way to toggle through the workspaces in CDE running on Solaris 8. I have been told that a screensaver exists which will do this... display workspace-1 (sleep time) then workspace-2 (sleep time) then.... etc. in an endless loop. However, this magic screensaver remains illusive. Nor, can I seem to find any direct calls that can be made to CDE or the window manager to accomplish this, though there are some library calls to do it.

So, anyone have an idea?

Last night at Riverfest my friends Bayly and Emily and I saw Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. It was a great show, covering some new tracks, some classics and some interesting covers, including the Mary Tyler Moore theme. The sound was so-so, but we couldn't find a patch of grass in front of the stage, so that was to be expected. Joan had great energy and managed to get the crowd on their feet several times. Not bad for a 42 year old! Her band was good, although there was considerable debate over the gender of her lead player. Research reveals that he was Dougie Needles. Having never seen her live before, but having had a crush on her since MTV started, it was a fun show and I think I may have to check out the new album.

Wow, lazy Saturday. Just perfect. Racked over my beer today so it won't sit on the troub and get all nasty. It should be a good mild ale with plenty of body and a malty flavor. 1.052 was the original gravity, which if I end up with a final gravity of 1.010, it'll have a 5.5% alcohol by volume. Not too stout, but perfect for summer drinking I hope. That's it for now, need to pack up my pasta salad for a BBQ at Bayly's house.

As I sit here loading more records into our dialer at work for the phone monkeys to call, my roommate is checking out the Pythagorean Theorum on the internet. Random? Yes, very.

Now I know we shouldn't be laughing at this, but these are too damn funny. Now let's be honest, anyone reading this site with any regularity has either done something like this when they were a small child, or after a serious blow to the head. But at least we were smart enough not to immortalize the moment on video tape. Or if we did, we at least destroyed the tape.

After some serious thinking (yeah, right, as if), I've made an account for my friend Bayly to be able to post to this blog. Basically this is an effort to keep the post frequency up so the darn columns don't wrap on the frontpage. Pathetic, I know. So let's all give a big round of applause for Bayly! ...seriously, I don't hear you clapping... ...do you think I'm kidding? ...c'mon let's hear it! ...okay, okay, I'll ease up--you're off the hook... ...for now.

[ed -- And an account for Phil, too. Which you'll live to regret. Muhahahahaha!]

My mom forwarded a link of my sister and her fiancee Eric finishing the Bloomsday race in Spokane. I edited it a bit so you can see where they are. It's probably a breach of something to post it, but what the hell. Here it is. If somebody complains, I'll sick my user group on them-- they're a bunch of irritating whiners, and can reduce the most stoic person to tears. By the way, someone's got a bad case of the Mondays... In other news, I changed my plane tickets to see my folks to July 23-July 30 so I can go camping with the gang. It should be fun, and I'll try to post pics; hopefully I'll have a digital camera by then. Send money. Please. And a new job. As long as I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony too.

Finally! My machine is back together and working great! I RMA'd he Asus P4PE mainboard and the replacement worked fine on the first try. Of course, one more issue cropped up. My newish CompUSA power supply couldn't keep enough juice on the 3.3V rail, so when you did anything graphic intensive (AGP is 3.3V) the stupid thing would beep. Even if you turned off the hardware monitoring. This was solved by purchasing a nice new Antec power supply. It's rated at 28A on 3.3V rail, and since I've put it in, all the power leads have been rock stable. A little more RAM would be nice though, EverQuest seems to hit the swap file pretty hard with all the textures loaded. So that's pretty much that.
