Dear Kelly, Nice to get your calendar of events of 2003. Sounds as though are enjoying the South Mid west wherever that is and seeing a lot of the local color . I am having the Thanksgiving menu dinner again for Christmas. I can’t think of anything new to serve. There will be 11 of us at last count. We have a ray of sunshine coming in the window so I’m staring out looking at the phenomenon. Tomorrow Kristi, Paul and I are going to the beach in the Winnie. I had to buy 2 new batteries but I hope the rest of the rig will work O.K. Love, Grandma Flo

Hi Kell, Grandma Flo accidently baptised her cell phone in the salt chuck, so this morning we went cell shopping for her at the Southcenter Verizon outlet. Paul, Flo, and I were casually strolling down the beach, admiring the interesting foamy foam which was blowing off the sand, when a rather large wave decided to come in. Paul and I yelled “RUN!!!”, which we did, and we ran about 5 feet up the beach to the dunes and jumped up a 2-foot high sandy bank. Flo, however, was a few feet behind us. The wave overpassed us, and kept up crawling up our backsides! Flo, on the other hand, was bowled over with the wave, with her heavy winter coat on. Paul jumped down to grab her arm. By then she was basically covered in water and sand, up to her neck! Even her baseball hat got it. We took hot showers at the camp site and then spent some quality time at the local laundromat! Quite the silly adventure. We looked at property for sale, ate a lovely seafood dinner, and visited the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse and Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, all very interesting. Cheers, Kristi

Ahhh, I wish I was there to see that. Nothing like a good rogue wave to remind you Mother Nature is still in charge. Hope you guys are having fun on the beach, regardless.

I I see Kristi explained the whole process of getting dunked at the beach. I’m still laughing at the experience. Paul said as we approached the narrow beach, “Something doesn’t look right here.” Alas, the big wave was out to get me. They were here one week and funny I never got a cold but Kristi didn’t leave her boat bed for a whole day. Sorry I wasn’t home when you called but hope you had a big dinner as we all did. Love, Grandma Flo
