Today's interesting factoid:

"In August 1983, a marathon celebrating the song "Louie, Louie" was held at KFJC Radio in Los Altos Hills, California. For 63 hours, the station played every known version of the song. At the time of the marathon, there were over 800 documented recordings of the tune. Since that point in time, the number of known recordings has at least doubled, with the last count somewhere around the 1,600 range."

More such useless info can be found at www.louielouie.net. In particular, I found Frank Zappa's love/hate relationship with the tune quite interesting. A good time-waster for a rainy Wednesday (at least here in Arkansas). If you still haven't slaked your thirst for useless music trivia, head on over to classicbands.com for some more. For example: Shock Rocker, Alice Cooper was once elected Homecoming Queen for the University Of Houston. Go figure!

Last night, Clay and I went to the North Mississippi Allstars show at the bar where he is the GM. The show was pretty well attended (this was the second night). After a somewhat rickety first set, the show was great (with earplugs). They played lots of tunes off of 51 Phantom and Shake Hands With Shorty. The crowd was behind them (those that weren't too stoned to know where they were) and ultimately it was a great performance. They didn't play too much off of their new album, Polaris, which I haven't really gotten into yet. If they play in your area, I'd recommend going-- they are some very talented young guys!

One of the better Photoshop This contests today on Fark.com. The theme was: "Photoshop the badness that ensues when one product/company replaces their slogan with that of another company/product". I post under the name of "sazarac". Go check it out.

Happy Easter everyone!

With that out of the way, it was a nice long, uneventful weekend. I did some laundry and vacuumed the house. Today I made a few changes on my 'blog (new quote, and the nifty title-caps at each paragraph start using the :first-letter CSS psuedo-class).

Since my cellular phone service at work will be ending, I picked up a new phone and new service today. In the coming months, I probably will be in communication with Clyde a lot, so I got a plan that allows me to call him (and any other Alltel customer, like my friend Bayly) for free. If you must know what the new number is, just download my resume, it's updated within. I think it would be horribly stupid to put my phone number up on a homepage that is regularly indexed by Google and other search engines. Just like how my email above is actually a picture (and no use to spammers harvesting the web for email addresses), my PDF formatted resume is immune to any automated harvesting.

Yesterday I signed a contract to provide Mosaix dialer development for the Textron TBS group in Providence. So I have a gig that will last to at least July 30th. I'll be working out of the house, with a few trips to Providence RI for meetings and on-site implementation. Unfortunately I had to turn down a job offer from MBNA to take this contract, but I wasn't prepared to move to Delaware just yet. So, life as I know it, will continue after April 30th :)

Realizing that half of my loyal readership is female, I'm going to try to extend my site to include more women's issues. So ladies, here's your first link: Mail Order Husbands. Now go out and find yourself a man!

You also realize I'm kidding, of course.
